  • Born 1952 in Detroit, Michigan.

  • Received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayne State University in 1977.

  • Received my Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan in 1981.

  • Admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1988.

  • Received Litigation Award for Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma in 1994.

  • Investigator for unauthorized practice of law for subcommittee of the Texas Supreme Court from 1986 to 1998.

  • American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Texas Chapter Liaison to Immigration Court from 1988 to 1991.

  • Attended Tel Aviv University in Israel from 1975 to 1976, where I studied Middle Eastern Relations.

  • Worked at the U.S. Consulate General in Tel Aviv from 1975 to 1976.

  • Matter of Pineda, Interim Decision BIA 3112, 1998
    This decision pointed out evidence relevant to establish a bona fide parent-child relationship in a Family Visa Petition.

  • Criminal Immigration
    Ex Parte Mario Tovar Cervantes 762 sw2d 577, 1988
    Court of Criminal Appeals of Texas
    This decision enforced section 26.13(a)(4), V.A.C.C.P. (1987), which requires all Texas Criminal Courts to inform non-citizens, before they plead guilty, that they may be deported or declared ineligible to become U.S. citizens.
